FLASH REVIEW: The Carnelian Fox
Wow, this novel took me back. The author is clearly a fan of the genre of monster-catching video games, and the novel essentially took a serious twist to those games and created a believable world, complete with its own system. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed playing those types of games--the narrative has emotional roller coasters, complete with death and life and new friends and emotional whirlwinds as Sam, the main character, strives to do her job as a Prime. Dragons. Fire foxes. Flying monkeys. It's all here!
If you were a fan of Pokemon as a kid, then you should try out Kay Macleod’s The Carnelian Fox. Exceptionally well-written, with a fun narrative and compelling characters. A solid first person narrative, too!
No Pikachu, but that’s all right.
And in case you’re wondering—for this flash review, Four Stars.
