Secrets of Endari: Dev Diary #3 (The Shendari Empire)

The Shendari Empire.

It stretches from the Eternal Sands in the west to the Haltor Tributaries in the east. Chankor lies across the ocean to the south, and the Sea of Storms and Serpents dominates the northern horizon.

The Shendari have created the greatest empire the world has ever seen. Their bureaucratic machine, both economic and militaristic, dominates every nation it touches.

That's what they want their citizens to believe, at least.

In Secrets of Endari, the Shendari Empire has crossed the Eternal Sands and established colonies in the Western Reach, a land already inhabited by a people known as the Fan Wi. The Shendari exploit the land, searching for shards to send across the desert to their industrial centers.

Governors rule provinces through executive mandate, though small legislatures exist in certain communities. All pay fealty, however, Empress Olivia II, who rules from her palace in the capital city of Cardon.

The Shendari have no deities, rather believing in collective strength through individual improvement. The Church of Ascension, run by the state, teaches all to pursue power, peace, and prosperity, thus collectively everyone benefits from the success of each individual.

And the Shendari have one enemy.

The Shing'rin'ta and their deathbringers.

The Shendari Empire does not like traitors. So when revolution brews in the Western Reach, in the city of Fendari, they will react swiftly to quell rebellion.
